With Mothers’ Day just around the corner, I thought I would share some of my favourite read-aloud books about mothers and their babies.
The classic Love You Forever by Robert Munsch shows how a mother’s love never fades. I don’t think I have ever gotten through this book without crying at least a little bit.
I Love You the Purplest by Barbara Joosse is a story about two brothers asking their mother which one she loves best. This book will help any mother with more than one child get out of that conundrum!
Finally, If You Were My Bunny by Kate McMullan is probably my most favourite book about mommas and babies; I have gifted this book to many an expecting friend. Each page has a different animal momma and babe who gets sung to sleep using a well-known lullaby with words meant just for them. This collection of songs became our nightly ritual and I probably could still sing them word-for-word despite my girls being teenagers now!
